wonder through rigor
I am a dancemaker whose work invites a shift in perspective and ignites wonder, deepening our connection to the natural world and the shared power of imagination. Through performances in natural and built environments—often employing climbing and rigging technology to alter our relationship with gravity—I engage audiences in embodied, site-responsive storytelling. I also teach workshops, direct dance films, and offer speaking engagements that center on attunement and safety culture.
I am best known as the founder of BANDALOOP, whose trailblazing fusion of postmodern movement, climbing technology, and a spirit of adventure is internationally recognized.Â
My work has been seen live by thousands and digitally by millions through film, broadcast, and social media. It has been featured on Great Performances/PBS, the David Letterman show, 20/20, Good Morning America, and CBS Sunday Morning, and in publications including the Smithsonian Magazine, LIFE, and The New York Times. My current offerings include choreography and performance, experiential education, consulting, and public speaking, drawing on three decades of creation and performance experience to find fresh ways to inspire and connect us through movement and rigor.
“Amelia not only creates riveting, internationally-acclaimed dance works that literally defy gravity, she also works in the field to help others advance.”

WATER MOVES
Three Nights Only: May 7, 8, and 9 6:30PM at San Francisco’s Joe Goode Annex
Amelia Rudolph’s WATER MOVES is an intimate, multimedia dance experience exploring water as element, resource, and life force. Centered on the body as a vessel, the work uses movement, experimental rigging, projection, sculpture, and sound, to explore how we are moved by the aqueous forces that sustain us.
